About

I’m a small town girl from the part of Florida that is still very much “southern.” Yes, I take offense to those who say, “Florida isn’t the south.” I mean at least say “ain’t the South,” but seriously come on over to the Southeast corner of Polk County and then tell me it ain’t the south….it's a far cry from Boca Raton Y’all.

On April 25, 2009 I married my best friend in a casual (a theme you’ll find applies to all aspects of my life) shin-dig in front of the 18th Green on the golf course where we shared our first date two and half years earlier. “Gus” and I are livin, laughin, (a lot) and lovin’ as we navigate through newlywed waters with a lot of southern fried flair….and a mutual love of sports.

To sustain my hobbies I am fortunate enough to be a Collegiate Golf Coach for a University in the Tampa area. We live in a town that shares a name with a popular butter in our first home smack in the middle of suburbia. In my spare time I love to read, do just about anything with “Gus” and get my daily fix of HGTV and DIY network.

“B” is employed in higher education and is an avid golfer. He is a guy’s guy and has his own hopeless addiction to sports. He can remember any stat, quote any noteworthy item, and gets fired up anytime Navy or Maryland is competing. The son of a Captain in the United States Navy he’s lived in at least a dozen places in his 26 years. He is the most loyal person I have ever met and I am so lucky to have found him. He is truly my best friend and I could not imagine life without him by my side.

Anytime "Gus" and I can spare at least 48 hours away from our jobs, we bee-line it to Metter, Georgia and exercise our right to be a little bit redneck rougher around the edges. I’m talkin’ about Smoker Grills that have their own zip codes, a cabin filled with at least half a dozen mounted deer heads, 4-wheelers in all sizes and colors, tractors, tree houses, and an endless supply of sweet tea. A place where the guys head out on the morning hunt before the sun comes up and return to a breakfast table full of sausage and gravy, a place where a 3-year old can say “back hoe loader” and spell KUBOTA, and a place where you better leave your boots outside under the tin roofed porch if you don’t want your mama yellin’ atcha.

While we always keep Metter in our hearts, there is one other place that we cannot get enough of no matter how often we get to go.  That place....Annapolis, Maryland.  The capitol of Maryland and home to the United States Naval Academy, there simply isn't a city we love more.  The endless opportunities to play golf, shop, throw on your pearls and madras, pick up your Very Bradley bag and stroll the streets while daydreaming about living life aboard a sailboat.

It's a tale of two lives.

Two Southern. Fried Lives.

....and this juxtaposition works just fine for us
