October 2009: I'm away three weekends in a row for golf season. We celebrate a tournament victory at Outback on the way home and "B" and "J" join us. My parents send me flowers with a "You're our favorite Coach...and baby girl" note attached. We look forward to the first holiday season as husband and wife. Brian and I both hit the one year mark with our jobs. For Halloween, "J", "B", and I sit at the end of our driveway and pass out candy to the many witches, sponge bobs, princesses and sesame street characters who pass by.
November 2009: We countdown the days until we get to go to Annapolis, Maryland for Thanksgiving. We both look forward to spending time with “B’s” family. We get there and are greeted by their new Golden Retriever puppy, Lindsey. We eat too much Cream of Crab soup, walk up and down the downtown streets, laugh until our sides hurt, and go out one night with “B’s” little brother “T” who is relatively new to being 21. We feast on Thanksgiving dinner and then venture out for “midnight shopping.” I freeze and sip coffee.
December 2009: "B's" mom flies down to help us decorate for our first Christmas in our new home. We set-up and decorate five trees and my mom comes to set-up the Nan tree. We host the office Christmas party and “B’s” mom is instrumental in making it all possible. On Christmas Eve we venture to mom and dads’s and open up our gifts. We head to Cobbtown, Georgia on Christmas Day and enjoy a Christmas Day lunch of…Burger King (It’s the only thing open). We hang out, drink sweet tea, and have an unbelievable time with The Brown family. We log many hours on our 4-wheeler and we build a tree house for the little ones.
January 2010: We ring in the New Year by snoring as we go to sleep well before midnight. Our good friend from camp, “M.T.” comes down to visit and we celebrate with cocktails. We have a going away party for “J” and things get a little crazy. (Ok, Ok, a lot crazy). “B” and I are both teary-eyed as we say good-bye to our roommate of a year and great friend the following day. Our New Year’s Resolutions fail before the end of the month. We become good friends with the Morningside Mom family. Golf season fires back up.
February 2010: We both travel to Kiawah Island, South Carolina for our first tournament of the spring. “B” drives through the night to get us there and we arrive at 3:45am. We take the team into downtown Charleston for a carriage tour of the city and then dinner at Bubba Gump’s with "B's" brothers and their girlfriends. Valentine’s Day comes and goes and we celebrate by saying, “I Love You” a few extra times. We have a tough-time on the 20th as we remember where we were a year prior. “B” turns twenty-five years old and we hit up Howl at The Moon Piano Bar.
March 2010: I’m away two weekends in a row. “B” sends me sweet text messages. We go to half a dozen Tampa Lightning games. I go nuts every time there is a fight. My friend and I show up on the jumbo-tron for our sweet rave dancing skills. We tackle a landscaping project and it turns out really well. We start following along with the Tampa Rays spring training stuff. We talk about how crazy it is that we have been married almost a year.
April 2010: We make last minute arrangements to go with my parents to Augusta National. We meet them in Cobbtown and then drive up to Augusta the following day. We celebrate my dad’s 50th Birthday at The Masters. We buy “Masters” gear as our anniversary gifts to each other. “B” describes the day as “second only to our wedding day.” I laugh out loud. We meet John Daly and Ron White. We celebrate our one year anniversary with a nice dinner. We realize that times flies and vow to make year two even better than year one.
